Reverse Logistics Training Centre officially opened by cllr Sean Fielding

18 March 2019

Logistics now represents around 7% of the Greater Manchester business base and reverse logistics is continuing to grow as the rate of online shopping and the volume of returned items increase. Some retailers report return rates of 20-40% of their internet sales, which translates into a cost of around £20 billion a year.

Identifying the demand in reverse logistics as a fast-growing sub-sector in need of skilled workers, Mantra has commissioned a new training facility, aptly titled the Reverse Logistics Centre, from the grant awarded to us by Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA).

The Reverse Logistics Centre (RLC) was officially opened on Monday 18th March by Councillor Sean Fielding, Oldham Council Leader and GMCA Lead for Employment, Skills and Apprenticeships.

The RLC boasts the latest technology provided by members of the Warehouse Technology Group, so that learners can learn and practice new skills in a live working environment. The centre will support learners on apprenticeships and pathway to apprenticeships, as well as training job-seekers who are referred to Mantra Learning’s Job Gym by Jobcentre Plus.

More than 200 people a month are expected to graduate from RLC, ready for jobs in handling customer returns, putting unused goods back into stock for re-sale and recycling damaged or faulty goods.
