The Job Gym offers a number of government funded courses to improve your employment prospects. Most people are entitled to these courses free of charge, especially if you are aged 19 or over and not employed or are being made redundant and not in full time education.
Joining the Job Gym
When you first come to the Job Gym you will be offered an Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) appointment and an Initial Skills Assessment where we will provide you with impartial information about what courses and qualifications may be suitable for your needs.

Improving your work skills
Your programme will start with an Edexcel Level 1 Award in Work Skills which will help you to identify great job opportunities and tell you what qualifications employers are looking for when they hire someone.
It will develop your skills to apply for jobs, and prepare for and take part in interviews. It will also help you to identify further training and development you may need to succeed in the job you are looking for.
Brush up your basic skills
Should you need to brush up on your literacy and numeracy to get the job you are after you can take an OCR Certificate in Basic Skills at either:
Level 1 (equivalent to GCSE D grade)
Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE A-C grade)
The level you aim for and the amount of coaching you get depends on the level of skills you already have. We will give you an online assessment to see which level would be right for you.
Gain some real work skills
You will then select a Skills Booster course that will prepare you to get a job in a sector that is constantly recruiting new staff such as logistics, security, retail, hospitality, construction or process manufacturing.
Information technology courses
If you want to improve your IT skills we can offer an ECDL Level 2 certificate that shows you have reached a nationally recognised standard in IT working with applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

The Job Gym can also give you access to a range of adult apprenticeships and qualifications through our sister company Mantra Learning.
